The Royal Caribbean Group’s Data Science team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Senior Data Scientist reporting to the Manager, Data Science.

This position will work on-site in Miami, Florida.

Position Summary

Royal Caribbean is seeking a passionate and inquisitive Senior Data Scientist to join the centralized Data Science team. This role will focus on high-value project initiatives across different business areas with a focus in Revenue Management and Dynamic Pricing. Senior Data Scientists are expected to work independently as well as lead other Data Scientists and Business Leaders to explore new capabilities that will continue to keep Royal Caribbean Group ahead of its competitors in this space. While research oriented, the success of role will be dependent on the tangible value their efforts and the efforts of the Data Science team will add.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• A successful candidate will possess a strong background in one of the following or a related area: Statistics, Mathematics, Programming, Data Analysis, Experiment Design, Machine Learning, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Management Science, Business Analytics, Economics, and Numerical Optimization / Linear Programming.
• The candidate should have relevant industry experience having used these skills to make improvements to existing production models as well as new projects. They will work to quantify and prove the model improvements post-production as well as estimate revenue impacts of these improvements.
• The candidate should be eager to work on various types of production machine-learning processes, have a high level of curiosity, be results-oriented, have an aptitude for understanding business problems, and - most importantly - enjoy problem solving.
• Lastly, the candidate should be interested in the intersection of machine learning with traditional operations research, industrial engineering, and management science areas.

Major Responsibilities Include:
• Working independently with and leading other Junior Data Scientists to build new and improve existing production machine learning and optimization solutions. Validating model accuracy and performance as well as revenue impacts of the end-to-end solutions.
• Working with other data scientists in a R&D fashion to understand new potential avenues for improving the machine learning and optimization components used in production systems.
• Working in collaboration with the business, other data scientists, and machine-learning engineers to deploy all steps of end-to-end machine learning solutions that are highly visible to the business.
• Collaborate with Business stakeholders to design and implement R&D prototypes into broader automated systems and establish a Minimum Viable Product.
• Assist with research related to customer based analytical practice and develop communications for management and strategies for building institutional knowledge.

Knowledge and Skills
• Must have a strong background in one or more of the following: Statistics, Mathematics, Programming, Data Analysis, Experiment Design, Machine Learning, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Management Science, Economics, and Numerical Optimization / Linear Programming.
• 4+ years of experience using Python and common Python toolkits for Machine Learning. (Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn)
• 2+ years’ experience with having deployed end-to-end analytics or machine learning solutions.
• Experience with Git, MLFlow, or other methods of version control for models.
• A strong capacity for learning and assimilating new techniques, tools and methods.
• Comfortable with preparing or collaborating on presentation decks as well as delivering final stakeholder presentations as primary or supporting presenter.
• Has knowledge and can quickly ramp-up and leverage cloud-based cognitive service APIs such as Microsoft Azure, AWS and/or IBM Watson.
• Is passionate about your work, but willing to support several projects at one time and can accept reprioritization as necessary.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required in Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Physics, or field of comparable foundations in mathematical / statistical analysis and programming.
• 4+ years’ experience with any of the following programming languages: R, Python, Java, C++, C#, Scala, SAS, MATLAB or similar scripting languages. Similar experience and proficiency with SQL required.
