Senior Software Developer / Software Developer (at the rank of IT Officer/IT Technician) for eLearning and Data Technologies Team in the Information Technology Services (Ref.: 528646)
Information Technology Services (ITS) provides central IT services to support the University’s teaching, learning, research and administrative activities. ITS is transforming its organization to support its new strategic development and strategic adoption of new technologies. Information about ITS can be obtained at https://its.hku.hk/.
We are seeking high caliber IT talents to join us to provide top-notch IT services for our eLearning and Data Technologies Team.
The Role
The appointee will be responsible for:
• Developing web and app applications and tools;
• Interfacing with databases and data analytics technologies in eLearning (e.g. Moodle, Panopto) and other areas;
• Providing support to project management; and
• Supporting users and perform other duties of IT Services.
• Exploring the adoption of Generative AI for eLearning
Qualifications and Qualities
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Computer Engineering / Information Technology or a related field;
• A good command of written and spoken English;
• Good communication, presentation, analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Certification in ITIL v3/4 and PRINCE2 would be definite advantages.
Good knowledge of and relevant experience in SOME of the following areas is required:
• Web programming (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, Ajax, Node.js, PHP, Java, Servlet);
• Mobile app development
• Experience in Moodle learning management system, or eLearning system support
High-caliber fresh graduates are also welcome to apply for a Software developer position.
What We Offer
The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years and commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
