Position Purpose: The Assistant Men's and Women's Swimming
Coach will assist the head coach with all aspects of running a
successful men's and women's swimming and diving program.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties :
• Will serve as recruiting coordinator for the men's &
women’s team. Responsibilities include sourcing, initial recruit
contacts, planning & executing multiple recruiting events
throughout the year.
• Monitor the academic progress of swimming student-athletes.
This includes scheduling and monitoring study hall hours and weekly
academic meetings
• Responsible for a training group of 15-20 athletes, includes
their daily practice plan, injury management, interfacing with
training room staff, and coaching at competitions
• Communicate effectively with student-athletes, recruits,
parents, alumni, and administration.
• Create, plan and implement aquatics programs to more fully
engage the campus community through intramurals, recreation and
educational opportunities.
• Act as manager to work study lifeguard staff – includes but not
limited to scheduling, conflict resolution, monthly in service
training, interfacing with HR and Work Study office to resolve any
issues.
• Adhere to NCAA rules and compliance.
• Perform various duties within the Athletics Department.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Previous collegiate coaching or competitive swimming experience
is preferred.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and leadership
skills.
• Ability to identify and attract outstanding student-athletes to
Union College.
• Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
• A philosophy compatible with a multi-classified liberal arts
college with highly selective academic standards.
• Candidates must be safety conscious and able to work with a
diverse group of individuals.
Compensation:
The expected rate for this position is $25.00-$30.00 per
hour. Except for roles with a set rate of pay, the wage/salary
of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a
variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental
budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses,
specialty, and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents
the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range
of possible compensation at the time of posting.
