About this role
• We are looking for an Associate to lead Corporate Communications for Canada, working across regional and global businesses to advance BlackRock’s purpose of helping more and more people experience financial well-being
• Based in Toronto, you will partner with a range of internal stakeholders to help drive demand for BlackRock’s commercial priorities and to promote BlackRock’s investment and market views
• You will work closely with local leaders (including the Canada Country Head, Business Heads and Chief Operating Officer) as well as NY-based Communications and Marketing leaders to develop and execute a regional communications strategy
• Your role will include proactive and reactive PR, executive spokesperson platforms, social media and events

Primary responsibilities

Communications (proactive and reactive PR)
• Drive corporate brand and commercial priorities to build awareness, ensure alignment across global communications efforts and implement in Canada for institutional investors, financial advisors and end investors
• Build trust in the region through communications & spokesperson platforms (proactively identify opportunities to build visibility across key audiences, craft corporate materials and messaging)
• Earned media day-to-day lead for reactive and proactive opportunities across brands
• Lead all aspects of key executive spokesperson platforms for Canada, which includes:
• Coordinate full editorial calendar across all platform engagements: media, partnerships, social, content
• Implement and manage social media account(s) for executives
• Source new opportunities to reach institutional investors, financial advisors and end investors
• Coordinate Direct marketing opportunities with executive spokespeople
• Coordinate and support event and conference appearance (talking points, logistics)
• Coordinate meetings across marketing and corporate communication partners
• Report and measure impact across all executive efforts (delivered quarterly)
• Communications and media relations support for proprietary events to amplify thought leadership and increase visibility among key audience segments. Identify event partnership and thought leadership opportunities across BlackRock Canada leadership

Social media
• Develop and implement social media best practices to drive visibility of BlackRock and iShares Canada social channels
• Measure and report on social activations/efforts to identify opportunities to optimize content across social channels and quantify business impact
• Manage paid social campaigns end-to-end

Skills and Experience
• 3-5 years’ experience in corporate communications or journalism within the financial services industry and/or agency
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt your communication style as needed
• Existing close relationships with influential journalists and media specializing in financial markets
• Understanding of the asset management industry, investment products and strategies, capital markets and issues facing institutional and retail investors
• High degree of professional discretion, integrity and judgment
• A team-player and self-starter, with a positive attitude and excellent work ethic
• Able to multitask and operate with flexibility in a fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlines
• Strong project management skills and attention to detail
• Proven ability to bring creativity, curiosity, and innovative thinking to everything you do

For Canada only: The salary range for this position is CA$90,250 – $114,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
