Job Title: Food Chemist
Job Description
The Food Chemist will be involved with the testing of products in the lab and in an effort to improve product formulas and ensure the quality and safety of finished products. The Food Chemist will also contribute to New Product Development. To be a successful in this role, you should be analytical, detail-oriented, and logical, and collaborative.
Responsibilities include:
• Conducting nutritional testing on products including moisture, ash, fats, salts, etc.
• Will also be conducting some microbiological tests.
• Analyzing chemical substances to identify their composition, customizing formulas and running tests to improve the quality of chemical products.
• Reporting of experimental results and findings to other scientists.
• Maintain laboratory equipment to minimize malfunctions and adhere to safety regulations.
• Participating in chemical research projects and creating improved testing methods.
• Will participate in the creation new products from concept to commercialization.
Required Experience and Skills
• Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Food Science, or related.
• At least 2 years of experience in a Food Chemistry lab
• 2 years lab experience in a food testing laboratory
• Experience in Nutritional Testing of food products
• Microbiological testing experience preferred, not required.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
