The Workflow and Data Capture (WDC) team of Pharmacokinetics, Drug Metabolism and Bioanalysis (PDMB) in our Research & Development Division, is seeking a full time Data and Workflow Scientist to support ongoing and new efforts to optimize our data collection and use in inventing new medicines. The WDC team’s focus is on streamlining the workflows for improving automation and scientific data capture [within the labs] to provide the foundation for our company's translational modeling, AI/ML and decision-making platforms in our mission to develop ground-breaking medicines to improve patient’s lives. The candidate will play a key role in working closely with scientists building in-depth knowledge of the science and technology with specific expertise in integrating a wide variety of existing and new instrumentation platforms into laboratory workflows.

The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative cross disciplinary team working closely with other research functions and our IT colleagues. This role will be located at our West Point, PA, USA research site and may involve some travel and remote work. Candidates must be willing to collaborate with our scientists to understand and uncover needs in workflow and data capture, sharing broadly with the team to help build and execute strategy and to aid in implementation of innovative solutions.

Responsibilities
• Work collaboratively with laboratory scientists and automation specialists to enhance and build novel workflows and data infrastructure with a focus on lab instrumentation integrations.
• Effectively manage small projects from conception through completion with a wide variety of stakeholders.
• First line of defense in troubleshooting and error recovery
• Work with WDC team to prioritize highest reward projects and help shape the group’s strategy.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent with 1+ years of industrial experience

Required Experience and Skills:
• Must be a self-starter, able to work in an entrepreneurial and independent way when required.
• Must be a team player with strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Experience in a lab-based setting, working with lab data capture systems or automation.
• Experience with scripting/programing in the following: Python, C#, R
• Experienced with common data structures and queries like SQL, Oracle and other databases

Preferred Experience and Skills:
• Knowledge of OEM instrument platforms typical of biology, biochemistry or chemistry laboratory workflows
• Experience training end-users in new software systems
• Experience across drug discovery and/or with regulated data and workflows
• Experience prototyping new and enhanced systems
• Experience with Cloud-based architecture (AWS, etc.)
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Spotfire and Power BI
