Idaho National Laboratory is hiring an Instrumentation & Controls Research Staff to work in our Advanced Reactor Technology & Design Department within the Reactor System Design and Analysis Directorate. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off. Hybrid work opportunities may be available for this position. Responsibilities Include: - Work with cross-directorate team across different funding portfolios on variety of topics including digital I&C, reactor physics, traditional and advanced controls systems, failure mode and effects analysis of digital I&C, risk assessment of digital I&C, techno-economic analysis, and human factors consideration for reactor technology. - Use design methodologies, technologies, and processes which are best practice for the technical discipline to develop a design, and to validate that the design meets defined requirements. - Establish testing, inspection, and quality requirements to ensure technical features important to design are maintained. - Oversee or otherwise ensure that fabrication, construction, assembly, and procurement are done following the design. - Ensure that analysis needs are recorded and clearly understood. Document the design to establish conformance with design requirements and applicable codes and standards. - Publish and communicate research accomplished on the instrument and instrument improvements to both external and internal audiences with the goal of enhancing the INL’s reputation and building a strong user base for the instrument. - Periodic travel to represent the laboratory at different technical conferences, professional venues, and engagement with reactor partners will be required. - You will report to the Department Manager.
