JOB SUMMARY:
The Special Education Behavior Technician will be a member of the Special Education Intensive Intervention Team (IIT) that will provide immediate and direct support to students with disabilities who exhibit severely aggressive behaviors that may cause injury or harm to self and/or others. The Behavior Technician will provide individual and specific and intermittent behavioral support to students with disabilities as determined by a Campus principal or by the student's BIP.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Immediate and initial responder to students with disabilities who exhibit severely aggressive behaviors. Collect data to shaping student behavior by informing educational behavior plans with best practices, implementing educational behavior plans, monitoring, observing, and evaluating the execution of behavioral plans within an educational and real-life settings.
• Assist, support and accompany students with disabilities experiencing behavioral difficulties throughout the school day to allow them to continue to access their schedule.
• Monitor and support the implementation of educational learning programs (communication, self-help and self-management, social interaction and play skills) as documented in the IEP.
• Collect data weekly on all behaviors targeted and share data/findings with campus administrator, BEST teacher or district special education personnel.
• Assist campus special education and administrators with implementing strategies to prevent and diminish opportunities for students with disabilities to engage in inappropriate behavior.
• Capture appropriate documentation in a timely manner and in accordance with district procedures.
