Job Summary:
The SQL DBA will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server systems. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of SQL Server architecture, a passion for performance tuning, and a proactive approach to database management. This position also involves collaborating with development teams to ensure database integrity and security.
Key Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, and upgrade SQL Server databases and related applications.
• Monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions when required.
• Perform database tuning and optimization, including index management, query optimization, and database profiling.
• Plan and implement backup and recovery strategies, including regular testing of backup procedures.
• Manage database storage, monitor space usage, and plan for capacity growth.
• Ensure high availability and disaster recovery of SQL databases through the use of clustering, mirroring, replication, and Always On Availability Groups.
• Develop, implement, and maintain database security policies and procedures, including user management and role assignments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, including performance bottlenecks, deadlocks, and connectivity problems.
• Collaborate with development teams to design and review database schemas, queries, and stored procedures.
• Document database architectures, configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Provide on-call support as part of a rotation for critical database issues.
• Stay updated on SQL Server technology advancements, best practices, and industry trends.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience as a SQL Database Administrator.
• Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2012/2016/2019.
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server architecture, backup and recovery strategies, and performance tuning.
• Experience with SQL Server high availability and disaster recovery technologies (Always On Availability Groups, Clustering, or Mirroring).
• Proficient in T-SQL, with strong query optimization and performance tuning skills.
• Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Reporting Services (SSRS), and Analysis Services (SSAS) is a plus.
• Familiarity with Windows Server operating systems and PowerShell scripting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
• SQL Server certifications (MCSA, MCSE) are a plus.
