Job Description:

As a SQL Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server systems. Your primary role is to ensure the availability and consistent performance of various corporate applications. You will also be responsible for developing strategies to optimize and secure our SQL databases, collaborating with other IT teams, and providing solutions to improve database performance.

Key Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, and manage SQL Server instances, including standalone and clustered environments.
• Monitor SQL Server databases to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
• Perform regular database maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, indexing, and query optimization.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, including performance bottlenecks, deadlocks, and data integrity issues.
• Implement and maintain database security policies, including roles, permissions, and encryption.
• Design and implement disaster recovery strategies, including replication, log shipping, and backup/recovery plans.
• Develop and maintain SQL scripts, stored procedures, triggers, and views to support application development.
• Collaborate with developers to optimize database design and query performance.
• Monitor and optimize the performance of database servers, including resource allocation, storage, and query execution plans.
• Manage database migrations, upgrades, and patching processes.
• Provide 24/7 support for critical database systems, including participation in on-call rotations.
• Create and maintain comprehensive database documentation, including architecture diagrams, configuration settings, and troubleshooting guides.
• Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.

Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a SQL Database Administrator in a production environment.
• Strong knowledge of T-SQL and database management best practices.
• Experience with SQL Server tools such as SSMS, Profiler, and SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT).
• Proficiency in performance tuning and query optimization techniques.
• Experience with high availability and disaster recovery options for SQL Server, such as Always On Availability Groups and Failover Clustering.
• Familiarity with Windows Server environments and PowerShell scripting.
• Knowledge of database security standards and best practices.
• Experience with cloud-based SQL Server deployments (e.g., Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS) is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Certifications:
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
• Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate
• ITIL Foundation Certification
