The Influenza Systems Biology Lab at the University of Missouri (MU) is seeking highly motivated individuals for the positions of Postdoctoral Research Fellow or Research Staff in Computational Biology. Position Overview:

Role: Postdoctoral Research Fellow or Research Staff

Field: Computational Biology or Bioinformatics

Focus: Virology (Influenza and SARS-CoV-2) and Emerging Infectious Diseases

Location: University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop advanced computational approaches such as mathematical modeling, machine learning, and Big Data/AI techniques.
• Investigate the natural history of influenza and coronavirus, study host-pathogen interactions, predict virus emergence and evolution, and/or develop next-generation influenza and SARS-CoV-2 vaccines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in interdisciplinary projects.
• Prepare manuscripts for publication and present findings at conferences.
• Assist in grant writing and mentoring students.

Qualifications:

Education: Ph.D. in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field.

Experience: Prior experience with genomic analyses or infectious diseases is preferred.

Desired Skills:

Strong background in computational biology and bioinformatics. Experience in machine learning, Big Data/AI techniques, particularly deep learning models, and/or genome analyses. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
