About the Job
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the formation of identifiable pieces of GBRTT’s Freight strategy to help deliver the long-term Rail Freight Growth Target. You will be seen as an expert both internally and across the whole Rail Freight Industry. You will be tasked with establishing and maintaining highly effective working relationships across the industry to make informed decisions on freight strategy that meets the needs and priorities of our wide range of stakeholders. About the Team
The last few years have showcased the importance of the Rail Freight Industry with its ability to reduce road congestion and emissions from the logistics sector and the potential for growth is on show for all! The Strategic Freight team are looking to capitalise on the area’s potential by developing strategies, policies, and incentives to attract new customers to rail.
What do we need from you?
• Strong knowledge and experience of the freight / rail / logistics industry and understanding of the public and private sector levers that are available to drive change.
• Experience of strategy development activity in the freight/rail/logistics industry
• Excellent relationship management skills with broad experience of cross-functional, collaborative working
• Proven capability to work in a fast-paced cross-sector policy or strategy development environment by working across teams and organisations (preferably in the rail sector)
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, including an ability to develop compelling written reports or presentations, with ability to present detailed technical concepts in an accessible format for different audiences.
• Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities at the same time.
• Understanding of the basic infrastructure issues which influence capacity
This role is available on a Fixed Term Contract and Secondment basis for 12 months
• If you’re working within the rail industry and considering applying via a Secondment, we encourage you to have a conversation with your line manager early in the process to support a potential secondment into GBRTT and where successful to support your release.
