Taxonomist / Ontologist / Content Management Specialist
Qualifications
5-10 years’ experience building and managing complex content taxonomies and information architecture
Deep taxonomy development experience in complex content systems including understanding and creation of metadata schemas
Demonstrated ability to standardize and improve taxonomy processes for increased consistency, efficiency, and greater speed to market
5-10 years’ experience database, photograph, and video indexing / metadata tagging / asset management
Experience assessing user needs (through use cases, service blueprints, journey maps, evaluation of customer experience and analytics data, and UX research), developing sitemaps, doing content audits, creating metadata maps, and structuring content
Understanding of content management and development, as well as search and retrieval tools.
Comfortable analyzing large volumes of data from analytics tools, the research knowledge base, voice of the customer data insights, and multiple databases
Experience assessing current state scenarios and facilitating the creation of roadmaps for migration to proposed navigation and taxonomy schemes
Experience creating and using controlled vocabularies, classification, data mapping, ontologies (relationship of terms), and taxonomies (hierarchy)
Minimum Bachelor's degree; MLS preferred
Responsibilities
Taxonomy / ontology development and management, metadata management, content modeling, auto-classification, and data analysis
Taxonomy framework consulting, stakeholder interviews and reporting, use case development, competitive analysis
Production tasks include taxonomy development and maintenance, database, historical document, and photo indexing indexing with controlled vocabularies, and cataloging / metadata creation and editing
Other production tasks, to include document, video, and photo tagging, cataloging, and authority file development
Project and resource management, including scheduling, process and workflow development, project documentation, and defining success criteria and measurement
Editing of ongoing projects, including indexing projects, taxonomy projects, for various teams and business units
Serve as a resource to content management teams in editorial process, metadata implementation of content meta tags, html page tags, and keywords
Interact with stakeholders to advocate for our content management teams as needed to champion taxonomy processes, workflows, rationales, and implementation frameworks

You are an expert at bringing order to chaos and seeing patterns through the noise and redundancy of a highly matrixed content production ecosystem.
Daily activities will include varying levels of taxonomy design, project management, and hands-on indexing and tagging of all types of digital content.
Great attention must be given to establishing and meeting deadlines, quickly comprehending and navigating complex environments, collating stakeholder input and requirements, all while building ontological structures and repositories that will scale.
This is a role for someone who wants to make a significant impact on a large marketing organization for a leading, fast-growing company.
You are experienced in effective communication across a diverse set of people to obtain buy-in and consensus. You wear multiple hats as an SME, Project Manager, educator, change agent, and consultant.
