Position Definition:
Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator, collaborate with the Richards Lab team as a post-doctoral researcher to complete ongoing Richards Lab sleep and PTSD research projects, analyze and publish research findings, and develop new research projects and proposals.
Essential Functions:
• Supports and guides STAR Study Coordinator on subject recruitment, enrollment, and implementation of STAR study data collection.
• Takes lead role in operating all relevant software and in supporting/guiding study coordinator in the management of STAR study hardware and software. Takes a lead role in trouble-shooting device challenges and in refining protocols for safe handling and management of laboratory equipment.
• Takes a lead role in advancing team's ability to utilize new imaging tools for the measurement of sleep
• Takes a lead role on EEG analysis of data from Richards Lab sleep studies, including collaboration in development of pipelines for processing and analyzing data, data analyses, and collaboration on interpretation and dissemination of findings.
• Collaborates on manuscript and grant preparation.
• Regularly reviews the literature for existing and new research pertinent to the Richards Lab mission and the post-doctoral researcher's own interests.
• Collaborates on development of new scientific questions and hypotheses based on ongoing Richards study findings and their review of the literature.
Job Requirements:
• PhD in psychology or neuroscience
• Experience and skill running human laboratory sleep studies from start to finish, including completion of regulatory procedures, preparation of protocols and procedures, data collection and management, and sleep/EEG data processing
• Experience and skill in HD-EEG analysis, including coding and script generation in Matlab and/or Python, with publications demonstrating such experience
• Excellent teamwork skills
• Experience and skill in supervising research staff in subject recruitment, data collection and data processing procedures
• Professionalism, strong organizational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision
Working Conditions/Environment:
The work environment for this position will include an indoor office and a medical research environment. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, temperature variations, etc. The incumbent may sustain posture in standing or seated position and may utilize a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time. The incumbent is expected to work on site (SFVA) a minimum of 2 days per week, and 3 days per week as indicated by the priorities of the research (as defined by PI) at any given time. Other days may include remote work assuming the home/remote environment is conducive to effective job performance/productivity.
The base salary range for this position is $66,560.00 - $79,639.96 per year. The base salary actually offered to a successful candidate will take into account various relevant and non-discriminatory business factors including, without limitation, the candidate's geographic location, job-related experience, knowledge, and skills, and education, as well as internal equity considerations. A successful candidate may also be eligible to earn additional compensation including bonuses.
