Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the supervisor in overseeing the daily operations and data collection for the Math Assistance Area (MAA). Assist students with preparing for the math placement test. Interpret ALEKS scores and discuss math course options. Represent Math Assistance when coordinator is not available.
• Represent Math Assistance when coordinator is not available.
• Assist students with MA resources to help students improve their skills.
• Provide course information; help students access and utilize required educational software.
• Assist Math Assistance Coordinator in helping students interpret math placement test results and
• assist with testing procedural questions in-person, by phone or email.
• Present Math Placement Test Information Sessions in-person and online.
• Conduct Math Assistance class visits to promote MA services.
• Create and distribute MA informational flyers to students, staff and faculty.
• Orient new staff to the MAA facility and procedures.
• Provide informational and referral assistance about the center's services to students, faculty and the general public
• Assist students in finding their appropriate College services related to their study of math.
• Assist students preparing to take the math placement test, locate appropriate remediation resources and interpret test scores.
• Work in the MAA service desk when needed.
• Manage and monitor Math Assistance cloud-based tracking software system, and troubleshoot system issues.
• Create, maintain, distribute, and process student and faculty surveys. Analyze and apply results to future programming. Distribute results to stakeholders.
• Create program statistical reports for all Math Assistance activities and coordinate with Research and Analytics to demonstrate program usage, effectiveness, and growth.
• Compile and maintain an up-to-date resource manual with advising materials commonly used in the MAA. Verify textbook editions are current.
• Maintain a record of schedule changes for the MAA staff.
• Coordinate and submit internal Learning Commons' room requests and external room requests.
• Participate in hiring of new administrative assistants.
• Train, schedule, and oversee work of Administrative Assistant III staff.
• Assist in evacuating all personnel in the Learning Commons in the event of an emergency.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Education
• Associate's degree or equivalent experience required.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Proficient in written and spoken English.
• Proficient in interpersonal communication skills and mathematics through intermediate algebra required.
• Familiarity with College of DuPage math curriculum and policies preferred.
• Some mathematics at the college level preferred.
• Experience
• Two years experience working with the public required.
• Familiarity with computer hardware and software required.
• Previous experience with educational program support preferred.
• Experience working in service oriented setting with students of diverse backgrounds preferred.
Working Conditions:
• Multi-line telephone, PC, calculator, printer, copier.
• Work Schedule - 20+ hours per week, which may include day, evening, and/or Sunday.
Hiring Range:
Classified 11 Hourly/22.50 - 24.50
