Develops and supports reusable and scalable brokerage account maintenance applications. Develops customer-facing Web applications. Develops Java RESTful services and middle-tier, multi-threaded applications according to Agile methodologies using Java and Typescript. Enhances DevOps technologies, practices, and infrastructure using Amazon Web Services (AWS) -- Identity and Access Management (IAM), Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Elastic Container Service (ECS), Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), Lambda, S3, Simple Notification Service (SNS), Relational Database Service (RDS), and CloudFormation. Builds Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and self-service capabilities using Jenkins. Automates manual processes using Groovy, Maven, Gradle, and Shell Scripting. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
Participates in architecture design teams.
Defines and implements application level architecture.
Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
Advises senior management on technical strategy.
Mentors junior team members.
Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) performing architecture design and development of enterprise scale, Cloud enabled, distributed applications for customer account management within the brokerage industry.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) performing architecture design and development of enterprise scale, Cloud enabled, distributed applications for customer account management within the brokerage industry.
Skills and Knowledge :
Candidate must also possess:
Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) developing and supporting reusable and scalable brokerage account maintenance applications, using Java, Javascript, Spring, Java Persistence API (JPA), Java Database Connectivity (JDBC), Apache Kafka, iBatis and Hibernate.
DE developing Java RESTful services and middle-tier, multi-threaded applications according to Agile methodologies, using Java, Spring, and Hibernate frameworks; performing application build, deployment, and support using CI/CD tools (Jenkins); developing CI/CD pipelines in hybrid on-premise and Cloud environments, using DevOps tools and Cloud technologies (AWS); performing configuration management using Git Stash; and performing Test Driven Development (TDD), using Unit/JUnit testing techniques, Veracode, uDeploy, and SONAR.
DE writing clean, testable, readable, and maintainable code using Java Spring-boot; deploying brokerage account maintenance applications to EKS on AWS; scheduling processes -- moving data from one database to another -- on a daily or weekly basis using Batch Processing; and hosting and running on-premises or Cloud infrastructure.
DE architecting and providing solutions for customers to access/maintain their brokerage account information by developing micro-services based Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), testing automation frameworks, and conducting Proof of Concept (PoC) on Cloud technologi
