DIRECTOR OF MUSIC/LITURGY
MUSIC
• Play the organ/piano for all the services with music
• Provide new music for the congregation and choirs by subscribing to and reviewing new music from the major music publishers for Catholic Congregations
• Choose all the hymns and choir anthems to correspond with the readings and homily for all liturgies
• Initiate, coordinate and develop Young Adult/Teen Music Ensemble/Group for Sunday 5:00 pm Liturgy.
• Hire, train, schedule and rehearse the cantors and soloists
• Hire substitute organists when needed
• Recruit, train and rehearse members of the three choirs
• Purchase/arrange/compose music for the Bell Choir
• Hire instrumentalists as needed (Fund raising to pay for instrumentalists)
• Purchase/arrange/compose music for instrumentalists
INSTRUMENTS/LIGHTING/CARILLON/SOUND/LIVE STREAM
• Maintenance of Instruments (tuning/repairs/cleaning) Pipe Organ/Piano/Handbells
• Setup lighting charts for special liturgies as needed
• Maintain and program the Carillon System with appropriate songs for seasons, holydays and holidays
• Check-up and maintain sound system/cd player/Bluetooth/and all microphones and wires
• Control the camera for Live Streamed liturgies
LITURGY
• Implement and oversee ministry schedules through MSP
• Act as contact person for all parish liturgical volunteers
• Confer with the Pastor and Priests to keep all liturgical practices current and within the norms of the General Instruction of the Roman Missal
• Create Worship Aids for special occasion masses and prayer services
• Provide liturgical guidance for parish groups (Sports, Teens, Academy, Faith Formation etc.) when they are planning a prayer service or Mass
• Provide music list and guidance for funerals/Ministry of Consolation
• Help to prepare the music and liturgies for the Homebound and Anointing of the sick liturgies
• Provide engaged couples with a music selection sheet and an information evening/musical showcase with singers and instrumentalists
LITURGY WORSHIP AIDS (booklets)
• Research, gather and create the following Worship Aids for the congregation’s use:
Midnight Mass
Stations of the Cross (weekly)
Holy Week Morning Prayer
Triduum
Good Friday Stations of the Cross
Easter
First Communion
Confirmation
Graduation
September 11th Memorial Mass
All Souls Mass
CHILDREN’S LITURGIES
• Create the Monthly Mass Schedule for the entire School Year
• Prepare and rehearse the Children for their Monthly Masses and Prayer Services
• Prepare and rehearse the music with the children for their Sacraments (Faith Formation)
• Coordinate and prepare Stations of the Cross for the Academy and Faith Formation students
• Coordinate and prepare May Crowning/Ring Day/Graduation with Academy (Faith Formation)
• Make sure all Worship Aids are available for Masses and Services with Children
