Duties & Responsibilities

Summary:

The Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) will coordinate and participate in clinical research study by performing a variety of complex activities involved in the collection, compilation, documentation, and analysis of research data from clinical trials and observational studies.

In conjunction with the PI and study team:
• Coordinate and implement procedures for data collection
• Recruit, consent, and maintain confidentiality with research subjects and ensure compliance with Institutional Review Board (IRB) approved protocols as well as formulate study guidelines & respond to requirements of regulatory agencies
• Help principal investigators (PIs) and study coordinators to track, identify and report adverse events & protocol deviations
• In collaboration with the PI, co-investigators, and research team evaluate and interpret data to ensure the successful completion of research projects

The incumbent must be flexible in terms of working with scholars and research participants from diverse backgrounds and personal experiences and be able to establish good rapport with investigators and ancillary departments. Maintain current CITI credentials for Human Subjects Protection, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Clinical Research Coordinator, and additional sponsor GCP certifications as required. Understand and adhere to all IRB requirements, including Human Subject protection regulations and all aspects of IRB-approved protocols. Conduct all assigned activities in compliance with national, local, and institutional guidelines, according to all HIPAA, GCP, and other applicable requirements. Activities include coordinating new study activation requirements, screening and enrolling participants, regulatory and compliance requirements, maintaining appropriate study documentation and records, and managing study data. Have knowledge of different research sponsors (Federal, State, and Local Government Agencies) regulations and research methodologies.

This is a restricted position with no set end
date and continued employment is dependent upon the availability of funding.

Qualifications

Minimum Hiring Standards:
• Bachelor’s
degree or equivalent experience
• Ability to support, facilitate, and carry out qualitative and/or quantitative human
study research projects
• Experience recruiting, screening and interviewing human research participants; data
collection
• Experience in developing human subject research project standard operating procedures,
policies and guidelines
• Experience maintaining and auditing research study records in compliance with the
Institutional Review Board (IRB)
•Experience tracking and establishing statistical data using statistical software
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty,
staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
