Data Engineer II, Woot Finance

Woot, Inc.

Description

Do you want to have a large impact on a rapidly growing business? Do you want to have a wide breadth of ownership? Do you want to see your impact daily on both internal and external customers? Do you want to collaborate with the kind of folks who would enjoy selling something called a "Bag of Crap" almost as much as our customers love buying them?

Woot! is the original daily deals website, combining an entertaining shopping experience with deals so good they can't last long. Our data engineering teams build the ETLs, pipelines, automations and data infrastructure that help us to find the right deals at the right time among millions of options, report on performance, empower our internal customers to make data-driven decisions, and do even more.

You’ll get to learn, grow and work with an amazing team to:
• Unlock Woot's growth by innovating the systems and tools that power Woot's business-within-a-business - accounting, vendor management, and finance functions, to name a few. We deliver results.
• Design, develop, and improve systems, the data they produce and consume, and put it into the hands of your customers- from working with the product team, to design and architecture, to implementation and release, and finally to operations. Exercise your ownership!
• Work with a wide array of technologies every day, including SNS, Lambda, Python, CDK, Redshift, and Woot’s Enterprise Resource Planning system. Invent and simplify so we can do more with less.
• Work closely with internal customers to drive new solutions that impact internal and external customers. Customer obsession is our bread and butter.

Key job responsibilities

This role has a heavy emphasis on the technical ownership of Woot’s accounting system, the support of its key customers, and related data flows. Knowledge and experience with ERP systems is a must! You don’t have to be an accountant, but you do have to be able to talk to one.

A day in the life

Woot! values work-life balance. We aim to work efficiently. Working extended hours is an exception, not the rule. As an engineering team, we are builders and operators, and thus have an on-call rotation that you will participate on. Getting paged is not seen as inevitable, and we work to make our systems are more fault tolerant over time.
