CACI is seeking a Senior Executive Speech Writer and Editor who will offer high-level communication support to senior executives at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), specifically within the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) Front Office.
Ideal candidates should possess substantial government experience in executive communications support and a significant background in writing and editing executive-level communications for events such as speaking engagements, speeches, testimonies, proposals, and other official correspondence.
This position is a hybrid work position with telework authorized and onsite work requirements rotating between the customer site in Springfield, VA and CACI's PMO at the National Harbor in Oxon Hill, MD.
Candidates selected for interview will be asked to provide a sample of previous work for review prior to the interview.
About the Role:
- Perform communications support services including, but not limited to, Internal Articles, Talking Points, Initiative Proposals, Research Reports, and Other Outreach Communications.
- Produce timely Executive level briefings, papers, and correspondence by researching, writing, and coordinating content development. Utilize data from print and digital resources, archive records, interviews, and internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct research and synthesize existing research into clear, understandable content that resonates with the designated target audiences to achieve communication objectives.
- Utilize plain language writing techniques to develop documents that translate highly technical, complex ideas, processes, or procedures into easy-to-understand language.
- Deliver comprehensive social media support including, but not limited to, the creation of blogs, social media posts, LinkedIn updates, podcasts, and management of internal and external feeds to cultivate and sustain the OCIO's online presence.
- Facilitate strategic media outreach, industry engagement, and technical content creation including, but not limited to, speaker engagements, industry monitoring, research, writing, design, editing, proofreading, and stakeholder coordination in a dynamic, high-visibility, IT-driven environment.
- Provide media communications outreach to support OCIO messaging, marketing, branding and strategic communications outreach efforts.
- Coordinate with visual and virtual information specialists to develop quality products and communications.
- Remain current in daily press and media developments.
- Craft Media and Industry Action Plans that establish innovative standards, best practices, and strategic recommendations for effective media and marketing strategies aligned with operational objectives.
- Produce comprehensive media and industry reports, capturing recommendations, best practices, and process enhancements aligned with our strategic plan, vision, goals, and objectives.
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to obtain a DHS Entrance on Duty (EOD).
- BA/BS with 10+ years of applicable experience or equivalence providing executive communication and/or speech writing support (equivalency includes MA + 7 years applicable experience, BA + 10 years applicable experience or AA + 12 years applicable experience).
- Experience drafting, reviewing and preparing speeches, talking points, scripts and messages for federal government executives and/or political appointees for large external audiences as well as internal workforce communications.
- Strong organization and communications skills and ability to work collaboratively with Senior Government Leaders.
- Exceptional Written and Verbal Communication Skills: proficient in crafting clear, concise messages across various styles and tones; capable of effectively addressing both executive leadership and employees.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), content management systems, and workflow and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams.
- Strong initiative to proactively establishing relationships, setting up working groups to achieve outcomes, finding opportunities to innovate and improve value, as well as providing new ideas for improvement.
- Ability to work independently on a complex task with little direction and management oversight.
- Ability to understand the day-to-day operational needs of customers and identify areas for improvement in business processes and propose solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in communication, journalism or related field
