The candidate will be an essential member of a team investigating clinical and molecular risk factors for sepsis and sepsis-related organ failures, with the ultimate goal of identifying specific patterns of response that might be candidates for future targeted therapies.
Job Description
Research Specialist A/B:
Under direction of the Principal Investigator, the candidate will be required to perform research experiments using molecular biology, biochemistry and tissue culture techniques. The candidate should have a strong background in molecular biology. Other necessary skills include the ability to document results, process and report data, order lab supplies and partake in overall lab operating procedures.
Research Specialist C:
In conjunction with the Principal Investigator, the Research Specialist C will design, optimize and prioritize experimental work in the lab, in addition to reporting and analyzing data. The candidate should have a strong background in molecular biology techniques for DNA, RNA, and protein characterization and quantification. Sample management and lab maintenance skills are also expected.
Job Description:
The Research Specialist A/B will perform a broad range of experiments to collect and molecularly characterize human biospecimens from a human cohort study, using molecular techniques for DNA, RNA, and protein quantification and characterization. Techniques will include ELISA, flow cytometry, preparation of samples for mass spectroscopy, DNA and RNA isolation, RT-PCR, and immunoblotting. The Principal Investigator will design experiments and the Research Specialist A/B will be expected to optimize and troubleshoot procedures as needed. The applicant will also keep accurate notebooks, perform data analysis, track and coordinate biospecimens, oversee students and entry level technicians in the lab, and assist in manuscript preparation. In addition, general procedures including supply ordering, shipping, and laboratory maintenance will be expected.
