Job Duties
The Department of Motor Vehicles is seeking a Sr. Project Manager/Analyst for a full-time position with our Continuous Improvements and Projects group in Richmond, Virginia.
The Sr. Project Manager/ Analyst will direct, lead and participate in agency projects, studies, special initiatives, programs, and process improvement efforts designed to improve customer service delivery and agency efficiency within Business Operations Administrations.
The incumbent in this position will be responsible for conducting analysis, research, studies, and make recommendations regarding agency policies, business operations, and enhancing the effectiveness of service delivery.
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, serves approximately 6.2 million licensed drivers and ID card holders with over 8.4 million registered vehicles. In addition, DMV serves a wide array of businesses, including dealers, fuels tax customers, rental companies, driving schools, other state agencies, local governments, and non-profit organizations. Minimum Qualifications
•Experience with effectively managing multiple projects and priorities and leading/managing complex and highly visible projects. Possess expertise in project management methodologies such as Agile or other frameworks.
•Broad working knowledge in information technology and the application of automated solutions to support business operations.
•Possess extensive analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills to drive change within the organization. Demonstrated ability to research and analyze complex problems and data for policy and decision-making; to assess the impact of proposals, new programs, and policies; and to formulate alternative solutions and make recommendations.
•Demonstrated ability to function independently or with limited supervision, and to meet approved development schedules.
•Possess strong leadership skills to inspire and motivate teams to work collaboratively towards a common goal. Demonstrated ability to build trust and credibility with employees, maintain positive relationships, and lead by example. Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with diverse constituencies including executive level management and government officials.
Additional Considerations
•Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) preferred. Qualification to manage major Commonwealth IT Projects as required by VITA preferred.
•Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to change and drive results through continuous improvement. Working knowledge and understanding of lean principles and methodologies, such as Six Sigma preferred.
