Managing Director, AI Business Strategy

JOB DESCRIPTION

The AI Business Strategy, Managing Director will be responsible for the plans, management, and execution of our go-to-market strategy for delivery of best-in-class consultancy with data backed, AI enabled insights that solve complex business problems and accelerate value creation for our clients. The role will coordinate all sales, delivery, and hiring activities in this practice.

The individual in this role will be charged with management of pursuit, close, and service delivery activities which includes management of a professional team through potential project stages of diagnostic, planning, solution design, and solution delivery. This position also manages engagement economics, accurate status reports, quality controls, and management of legal risk to the Firm. This role will also be responsible for exceptional client service and high-quality engagement deliverables as well as development of new business with existing and prospective clients to the Firm, including identification of target companies.

This position requires a strategic thinker and experienced leader with the technical experience essential to identify the right business problems for AI based solutions. The role will work closely with other segment and practice leaders to share insights, best practices, and expand our service offerings as well as require a high degree of collaboration with engineering counterparts in the technologies that empower and enable AI (technology provider agnostic).

Job Duties

Business Development
• Develops practical solutions and methodologies to identify and manage AI enabled engagements with a keen eye to scale sales, delivery, operations and talent
• Collaborates with Principals and Managing Directors to identify, pursue, and win new business opportunities
• Cross-sells other BDO services (forensics, corporate finance, valuation, tax, due diligence, litigation, assurance, etc.)
• Assists with the expansion of Management Consulting service offerings
• Works with practice leadership to manage marketing and business development activities
• Oversees development of draft proposals and reports and completes research when needed
• Develops thought leadership for Management Consulting by developing whitepapers and presentations on topics relevant to clients and the profession
• Works with Management Consulting leadership to refresh marketing materials and website content as needed
• Collaborates with Management Consulting leaders to serve clients and expand BDO’s presence in the marketplace to bring the best solutions to our clients and prospects
• Proactively owns and develops strategic relationships between the practice and other BDO practices

Engagement Project Leadership
• Develops strong client relationships and serves as the high-level contact from start to close of an engagement and beyond
• Drives professional, exceptional, high quality client service
• Directs multiple client engagements and manage the underlying economics to ensure engagement metrics are achieved
• Empowers development of efficient and effective project plans and controls with evaluation and recommendation of alternative courses of action and solutions to achieve the best results for clients
• Ensures engagement performance is measured through KPIs such as financial results and market growth for the client
• Reviews and approves engagement budgets and drives value-based analysis of improvement opportunities.
• Ensures preparation of periodic and timely billings, and timely adjustment to engagement realization, as needed

Practice and People Development
• Manages to critical financial KPIs (sales, revenue, costs, gross contribution, collections)
• Develops thought leadership and whitepaper documents, participates in public speaking events, and publishes documents in industry periodicals
• Leads staff recruitment and retention for the practice

Supervisory Responsibilities
• Oversees, guides, and mentors managers and staff on professional client service delivery excellence
• Ensures staff are trained on relevant software, practice tools, and processes
• Evaluates performance of staff within the practice which includes periodic performance feedback and evaluations in accordance with Firm guidance

Education

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Bachelor’s degree, required
• Master’s degree, preferred

Experience
• Seven (7) years or more years of experience in a leadership role within professional services, required
• Experience with artificial intelligence and communicating effectively with technical and non-technical users of AI based solutions, required
• Experience selling at C-Level with both private and public companies from $25MM to over $5B in sales, preferred
• Experience in the following areas preferred:
• Practice builder in professional services
• Builder of business cases around technical solutions
• Solution based sales
• Provided services in at least two (2) different industries
