JOB OVERVIEW
Provide support services to and on behalf of the legal department for passenger car and commercial vehicle dealer network operations. This role will be responsible for creating and maintaining the processes and documentation required to support legal aspects of network operations as well as the tracking, monitoring and support of network pre-litigation and litigation matters. Will interact with the sales and network business units to facilitate the provision of legal services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Draft legal and business communications in support of attorneys, prepare legal documents and other correspondence.
• Maintain documentation and processes for network operations that are supported by the Legal department.
• Handle incoming legal and other operational communications, including intake of service of process. Maintain proper tracking of such communications and ensure responses are timely relayed as appropriate.
• Ensure new matters, including lawsuits, pre-litigation claims, subpoenas, and similar demands are accurately tracked and monitored. Responsible for creating and maintaining legal files as well as monitoring budgets for the various network-related matters. Responsible for reporting on case status, assignments and relevant deadlines. Responsible for preparation of reports regarding all settled, dismissed and otherwise completed matters.
• Maintain calendar of all relevant deadlines for all matters and provide updates on a regular basis on upcoming deadlines and important case developments.
• Collect and support discovery documents/information from relevant stakeholders in MBUSA and prepare information to be provided to outside counsel in support of discovery requests. Track all information that is provided to outside counsel and create and manage any required litigation databases, including privilege logs and discovery requests and responses.
• Manage business licensing across the United States, including management of the deadlines for license renewals and the applications, documentation and filings associated with same.
• Process check requests and manage SLAs and chargebacks as needed.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.
• A minimum of 12 years of relevant work experience in a corporate law department, law firm, or equivalent is required.
• A paralegal certificate or certification is preferred but not required.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Provide general legal support to in-house attorneys, as necessary, which may include support of other functional areas within the Legal department.
This is a hybrid position that will require you to report to the office 3 days each week.
