### Key Responsibilities
#### Database Design and Implementation
• Design and establish database schemas, tables, indexes, and views to align with application requirements.
• Configure elastic pools, databases, and replicas to optimize performance and scalability.
#### Database Maintenance and Monitoring
• Monitor and assess database performance and resource usage while planning for future capacity needs.
• Identify and resolve issues such as performance bottlenecks and data corruption.
#### High Availability and Disaster Recovery
• Set up and manage database replication, failover, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Develop and test contingency plans for handling database outages and system failures.
#### Automation and Scripting
• Utilize automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks to manage database resources effectively.
• Enhance task efficiency and workflows through scripting and automation techniques.
#### Collaboration and Documentation
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand application needs and database dependencies.
• Offer guidance and support to developers, QA engineers, and system administrators.
### Qualifications
#### Experience
• A minimum of 8 years as a SQL Server Database Administrator, with substantial experience in cloud environments.
#### Education
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
#### Technical Skills
• In-depth knowledge of SQL Server, focusing on performance tuning and optimization.
• Practical experience with cloud platforms, particularly Azure and AWS; familiarity with Azure is advantageous.
• Proficient in database administration tools and security practices for Azure SQL Database.
#### Preferred Skills
• Knowledge of other RDBMS systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Relevant certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate).
• Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and data warehousing concepts.
• Experience with infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Bicep, Terraform) and configuration management systems.
