Louisiana Tech University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the School of Biological Sciences. We seek a dynamic and innovative individual to join our faculty in delivering excellence in teaching, research, and service. The School of Biological Sciences offers undergraduate degrees in Biology, Environmental Science, and Medical Laboratory Science. The department offers MS degrees in Biology and in Molecular Sciences and Nanotechnology (MSNT), as well as a PhD degree in MSNT. The successful candidate is expected to have expertise in an area of Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or Physiology, a strong commitment to teaching, excellence in areas of biomedically-relevant research, and a dedication to advising undergraduate and graduate students. The successful candidate will also actively contribute to the unit through recruiting efforts and programmatic support.
Position: Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Biology Location: Louisiana Tech University, Ruston, Louisiana Department: School of Biological Sciences Start Date: September 1, 2024.
Responsibilities:
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in topics related to cell biology, molecular biology, or physiology. This includes teaching some courses already in our course catalog and developing new courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
• Establish and maintain a research program in areas of health or biomedical sciences with a commitment to securing external funding and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
• Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in their academic and professional development, including research projects and career opportunities.
• Contribute to the department's service mission through active involvement in recruiting activities, programmatic support, and committee work.
• Collaborate with colleagues within the department and across disciplines to foster a dynamic and inclusive academic environment.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Biology or a closely related field, with a focus on Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or Physiology.
Established record of research productivity, including publications in peer-reviewed journals and a strong potential for securing external funding.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a diverse academic community.
Willingness to contribute to the department's service mission through participation in recruiting efforts, programmatic support, and committee work.
Preferred qualifications:
Demonstrated expertise in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in areas of cell biology, molecular biology, and health sciences
Experience in advising and/or mentoring undergraduate and graduate students
Postdoctoral experience in a relevant field is highly desirable
