An outstanding trading and processing organization is seeking an experienced Grain & Feed Trader who will be accountable for price research, marketing, logistics, procurement of commodities. This person will have responsibility for market planning and assisting in accurate P&L generation. The company is seeking a driven candidate who can step in and hit the ground running.
Discipline, tenacity, and drive will be key to success in this role. The Commodity Merchandiser must be able to originate and merchandise commodities. This knowledge includes coordination of logistics via truck and rail, and the calculation of freight variance. Reconciliation on cash position is a daily necessity. The Merchandiser must be able to transact business within established position limits and company policy and establish price updates to customers.
Along with meeting current demands, this person must be able to identify and develop new market opportunities. Growth is key to success, so attendance at industry events is a plus. This organization has many valuable resources, and the Merchandiser must work with other stakeholders to grow the business.
The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in related business, finance, or agriculture. This person must also have 3+ in Agricultural experience related to merchandising, sales or marketing and market risk knowledge. The ability to scope, plan and execute business plans, and strong interpersonal & negotiation skills are a must.
