Position Summary: The purpose of the position is to provide technical support to five registered pharmacists who provide pharmacy services and dispenses over 200,000 prescriptions yearly. The incumbent must be resourceful, able to understand and follow complex directions.

Position responsibilities:
• Responsible for maintaining an adequate stock level of formulary medications through pharmacy stock control activities including inventory, requisition, receipt and shelving of medications. Insures that item-specific storage requirements and consistently met.
• Submits electronic orders to Prime Vendor to maintain adequate stock levels.
• Maintain Parata Max automated dispensing system by refilling cassettes of medication, vials, and caps, replacing labels when out, and resolution of incompletes.
• Receives all incoming drug shipments, checks invoice against contents, shelves the medications, and observes special storage requirements for specific items.
• Retrieves patients refill requests from the pharmacy refill line.
• Removes all expired stock from dispensing inventory and places in appropriate location.
• Becomes familiar with the RPMS Pharmacy Point-of-Sale package. Demonstrates ability to verify if prescriptions are/were billable or unbillable, paid, or rejected.
• Reviews recall notices and checks for affected inventory and reports to chief pharmacist.
• Responsible for assisting pharmacists in filling prescriptions.
• Answers incoming telephone calls, relaying information on transferring calls appropriately.
• Communicates with medical, nursing, and records staff as necessary to convey required patient or drug information.
• Responsible for keeping the pharmacy dispensing area, drug storage areas, and counting equipment in a clean, orderly condition.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Essential skills and experience:
• Have or obtain an Oklahoma Pharmacy Technician License.
• Required to be thoroughly familiar with both the trade and generic names of drugs in maintaining accurate stock records and in filling prescriptions. Incumbent must have the ability to acquire and apply a knowledge of a wide variety of drugs, including their costs and clinical indications.
• One to three years Pharmacy experience.
• Resourcefulness, initiative, and judgment are required of incumbent in surveying storage area to assure effective and economical use of storage area, in planning work and assigning priorities to work assignments in re-warehousing activities, and in checking stocks and filling requisitions.
• Mathematical ability, i.e., conversion of metric to apothecary measures, computing prices, etc.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.

Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
