The Point-of-Sale Billing Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting the billing pharmacist in performing daily tasks to serve the patients. Those tasks include running reports, utilizing card finder to look up insurance information, contacting patients to update/confirm insurance information, processing insurance claims and rejections, working with insurance companies to ensure claims are adjudicated properly, and performing the duties of a staff pharmacy technician on an as needed basis.
• Must have a current and unrestricted pharmacy technician license in the state of Oklahoma
• Two or more years of pharmacy billing experience required
• Knowledge of HIPPA and Privacy Act
• A professional knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and techniques of a comprehensive pharmacy program
• Knowledge of the current legal/regulatory statues that govern pharmacy services
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of billing information systems, outpatient pharmacy package, and Point-of-Sale package as well as the ability to run outpatient reports
• Ability to utilize current pharmacy automation including automated dispensing cabinets and robotics within the facility
• Must maintain a professional attitude and appearance that positively represents the Nation
• Requires a high level of personal integrity and ethics
• Requires a high level of problem-solving skills
• Must always remain confidentiality
• Knowledge of the Electronic Health Record and RPMS
• Requires ability to use Microsoft Office Suite programs
• Requires good interpersonal communication and teamwork skills
• Requires willingness and ability to learn new skills
• Basic Life Support certified
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check
• Must be able to pass drug/alcohol testing
• Must have a clean driving record- may be required to drive GSA or Tribal Vehicles
