Job Description:
The Data Scientist II provides technical leadership across the overall Analytics function which may have an enterprise mandate. Role generally provides deep technical knowledge and expertise in client interactions to explain complex data analysis related material.
Depth & Scope:
• Generally accountable for a significant business management area that typically has enterprise wide impact or accountability
• Enterprise or functional expert, requiring broad managerial and deep specialized knowledge at the enterprise, business, regulatory and industry levels
• Undertakes and completes a variety of complex initiatives requiring seasoned specialist knowledge and/or the integration of cross functional processes
• Position typically deals with senior/executive management
• Focuses on longer-range planning for functional area (e.g. 12 months or greater)
• May manage and prioritize multiple projects at a given time
Education & Experience:
• Undergraduate degree or technical certificate
• 7+ years relevant experience
• Proficient PC skills including a strong competency in MS Excel and PowerPoint, and a variety of PC based analytical and reporting software packages
• Advanced experience in the knowledge, utilization and adoption of the latest tools (i.e. machine learning) and technologies (i.e. Hadoop) in big data and advanced analytics
• Strong analytical and program solving skills are required to interpret data and draw conclusions
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Customer Accountabilities:
• Provides insight into leading analytic practices, designs and leads iterative learning and development cycles, and ultimately produce new and creative analytic solutions that will become core deliverables
• Works closely with business owners to identify opportunities and serve as an ambassador for data science
• Designs and deliver enterprise analytic solutions for customers
• Develops powerful business insights from social, marketing and industrial data using advanced machine learning techniques
• Works in a highly interactive, team-oriented environment with Big Data developers, engineers, modelers and Visualization experts
Shareholder Accountabilities:
• Builds complex statistical models that learn from and scale to petabytes of data
• Analytical thought leadership and stay current on developments in data mining and the application of data science
• Works independently as a senior lead and may manage and direct activities related to analysis, design and support of technical data management solutions on various projects ranging in complexity and size
Employee/Team Accountabilities:
• Acts as a technical working lead/resource to others. Work closely with senior leadership on significant projects.
• Provides thought leadership and/or industry knowledge for own area of expertise
• Supports a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation, and teamwork; ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest
• Identifies opportunities, leverage data related solutions to drive business productivity, and implement measures to enhance effectiveness and operational efficiency
• Works effectively as a team, supporting other members of the team in achieving business objectives and providing client services
• Participates in knowledge transfer within the team and business units
