We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Director, AI / Machine Learning Software Engineer to join our AI HUB. This role is located in Pittsburgh, PA – HYBRID (3 days/week in office).
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
• Leads initiatives, provides strategic direction on AI architecture, technical expertise, and craft strategic approaches on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence products.
• Has deep knowledge of the field, and the practical applications of ML/AI concepts.
• Directly contribute to strategic goals and corporate direction.
• Provide organizational leadership and develop proposals to move the business forward.
• Conduct technical research studies to provide additional facts needed to make informed strategic decisions.
• Establishes strong relationships with internal teams to gain an understanding of their strategies, objectives, and tactics to develop a comprehensive success measurement plan.
• Provides expertise in the most complex processes of integrating ML/AI across existing and modified applications.
• Ensures that ML/AI solutions adhere to governance policies on model risk management and model & software development lifecycles.
• Collaborates with and supports leaders and their teams from multiple areas of expertise to ensure strategies and data science products are aligned and support business and operating results.
• Stays abreast of emerging technologies and identifies potential use of new and existing technology within lines of business by participating in industry-wide conferences and research and by having in-depth knowledge of various business areas.
• Contributes to the achievement of Application Development objectives. Mentors and develops a successful team of machine learning engineers.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
• Advanced degree in STEM engineering degree, or equivalent work experience with experience preferred in related fields
• 8+ years of related experience required; experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus
• Ability to communicate technical ideas and express basic concepts
• experience in machine learning, Reinforcement Learning

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $139,000 and $300,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
