Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine (J&J IM) is actively seeking a talented and dedicated Post Doctoral Researcher in the field of AI Reasoning and Natural Language Understanding (NLU) to join our Data Science Analytics & Insights Team. This critical role has a primary preferred location in Titusville, NJ, but other locations are available, including La Jolla, CA, and San Diego, CA. We offer the flexibility of remote work options within the US on a case-by-case basis, subject to company approval. Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated base pay for this position is $95,000 annually, with opportunities for performance-based bonuses. Other benefits include:

Skills
- Strong foundation in AI/NLU methodologies
- Proficiency in programming languages, particularly Python and/or R
- Knowledge of NLP techniques (e.g., word2vec, RNNs, transformers, BERT)
- Experience with large language model frameworks (e.g., GPT, LangChain)
- Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch)
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences
- Continuous learning mindset within a research setting

- Understanding of statistics for methodology validation
- Familiarity with cloud solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure) and graph platforms (e.g., Neptune, Neo4J)
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with research teams to create decision-making agents that turn knowledge into actionable insights
- Develop and validate innovative LLM-based methodologies to facilitate the drug development lifecycle
- Integrate multi-modal data sources, including unstructured text and images
- Become a go-to expert on AI and NLU methodologies, guiding team members on their practical applications
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in AI/NLU or related fields (computational linguistics, computer science, machine learning, etc.) obtained within the last year or expected imminently
- Demonstrated experience in the field with publications in reputable journals and conferences
- Familiarity with at least three capabilities such as natural language inference, named entity recognition, or graph analytics
- Proven skills in NLP techniques and frameworks
- Background in biology or experience with biomedical data is preferred
- Strong statistics understanding for methodology validation
Education Requirements
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in AI/NLU or a related domain

Experience Requirements
