Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine (J&J IM) is seeking a motivated and visionary researcher for the role of Post Doctoral Researcher in AI Reasoning and Natural Language Understanding within our Data Science Analytics & Insights Team. This position will play a pivotal role in our mission to drive healthcare innovation through expertise in AI and data science. The ideal candidate will conduct research focusing on developing methodologies to extract insights from biomolecular data, especially leveraging advanced large language models (LLMs). You will collaborate with various teams to build actionable decision-making agents that solve complex challenges in multiple therapeutic areas.
Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated base salary for this position is $95,000 per year. The Company provides a highly competitive compensation package that includes:

Skills
- Strong knowledge in AI/Natural Language Understanding.
- Proficiency in multiple programming languages, especially Python and R.
- Familiarity with natural language processing techniques (e.g., word2vec, RNNs, transformer networks).
- Experience with large language models (LLM) and agent frameworks (e.g., GPT, LangChain).
- Expertise with development tools (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face).
- Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences.
- Capability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Continuous learner eager to acquire new knowledge.
- Background in biology or related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with cloud solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure) is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with research teams to develop decision-making agents by synthesizing knowledge.
- Create, validate, and implement LLM-based methodologies for drug development challenges.
- Integrate multi-modal data sources including unstructured text and images into models.
- Provide expertise in emerging AI/NLU methodologies to the team.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. degree in AI/NLU or related fields such as computational linguistics, computer science, machine learning, data science, applied mathematics, or statistics.
- Strong track record in relevant domains, supported by publications in reputable journals/conferences.
- Experience with key capabilities: natural language inference, named entity recognition, ontology mapping, and graph analytics.
- Proven proficiency in advanced NLP techniques and tools.
Education Requirements
- A completed Ph.D. degree within the last year or to be completed within the next month.

- Relevant experience in text mining, graph analytics, or machine learning.
