Summary of Role

We are seeking an experienced trade attorney (Director, Trade Counsel) to join the Office of General Counsel (OGC).

Reporting directly to the VP, Legal, this role will provide day-to-day counseling to the business, OGC colleagues and members of our Global Trade Compliance (GTC) team on international trade matters, particularly sanctions and export control laws and regulations.

In addition, this role will assist OGC and GTC with maintenance of the Company's trade compliance program and work closely with GTC to provide advice on complex trade compliance topics across the enterprise.

Major Activities and Responsibilities
• Advise the business on trade control issues and help support legal and compliance issues affecting OGC and GTC. This will entail providing advice on U.S. and international sanctions regimes, restricted party screening results, exports, reexports and deemed exports, technology transfers, third-party due diligence, and due diligence for potential acquisitions.
• Assist with compliance risk assessments and, when needed, the development and implementation of policies, processes and training relating to trade compliance initiatives.
• Provide updates regarding legal, regulatory, and trade-related developments, and work with GTC to adjust policies and procedures as needed.
• Interpreting and applying economic sanctions and export laws and regulations and counseling colleagues and business clients on compliance requirements and risks.
• Assist and provide support to GTC related to requests from government agencies, such as OFAC and BIS, including disclosures, information requests, license applications, classification requests, and other filings with U.S. government agencies on trade control topics.
• Review and negotiate contractual provisions with clients, third parties and vendors relating to global trade compliance.
• Develop strong relationships across the business to effectively spot and address trade compliance risks.
• Provide support on other initiatives and matters as needed.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

Education:
• Qualified attorney with a Juris Doctorate or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution (including passage of any necessary qualification examinations).

Location/Commute:
• We offer Hybrid Work Model (combination of 3 days In-office & 2 days offsite/remote).
• Applicant must have ability to work from either of our sites in Rahway, NJ (preferred) or North Wales, PA or Washington D.C site with up to 10% Travel (including International).
• This position cannot be 100% remote.

Required Skills/Experience:
• 5+ years' experience in law practice with proven experience and/or understanding of U.S. economic sanctions and export control laws and regulations.
• Experience with and/or understanding of non-U.S. Export/Trade laws, regulations, and trends.
• Highly effective communicator who can translate complex laws and regulations for business personnel.
• Good judgment, flexibility and open mindedness are necessary to be successful in this rapidly changing environment.
• Business-savvy problem-solver who can navigate challenges.
• Team player who can collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to effectively manage and complete projects and timelines.
• Strong dedication to client service.
