The Staff Commodity Business Manager, is responsible for developing supply chain strategies to support to enable Cepheid’s instrument product roadmap. This is an opportunity to influence hardware decisions and shape the Cepheid product portfolio.
This position is part of the Global Operations Team and will be located on site in Sunnyvale, CA. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
• Manage end-to-end supplier relationships, including contract negotiations, supplier identification and selection, and supplier development
• Generate tactical and strategic commodity roadmaps that drive improvements in cost, quality, delivery, and working capital
• Research and identify new technologies and industry trends across multiple commodities
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure end-user requirements are sufficiently detailed for sourcing and procurement
• Manage supplier risk through identification and mitigation of supplier operational and financial deficiencies
The essential requirements of the job include:
• Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of related work experience OR Master’s degree in field with 6+ years of related work experience OR Doctoral degree in field with 3+ years of work experience, preferably in Procurement, Supply Chain, or Engineering with 8+ years experience in Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, Purchasing, and/or Supplier Relationship Management
• Direct experience leading cross-functional teams to solve complex problems; uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgment and identify innovative solutions
• Communicates difficult concepts and negotiates with others to adopt a different point of view
• Global sourcing experience for multinational manufacturing company
• Proven negotiation skills in a medical device manufacturing environment
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
• Building, maintaining, and fostering relationships with suppliers.
• Ability to interpret product Bill of Materials (BOM's) and Drawings. Commercial experience, including contractual documentation, within a dynamic environment
• Continuous improvement in manufacturing

The salary range OR the hourly range for this role is $120,000 - $170,000 . This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
