Primary Purpose:

The Financial Analyst is responsible overseeing strategic planning
initiatives and leading change management processes. This position
is responsible for assisting the Vice President of Finance and
Operations in managing the day-to-day financial operations while
also focusing on long-term strategic goals and organizational
development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning:
• Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement
long-term financial strategies aligned with the college’s goals and
objectives.
• Conduct financial analysis and forecasting to support strategic
decision-making processes.
• Evaluate financial performance metrics and provide
recommendations for improvement.

Change Management:
• Lead change management initiatives related to financial
processes, systems, and procedures.
• Develop and implement change management plans to ensure the
successful adoption of new financial policies or initiatives.
• Provide guidance and support to departmental leaders and staff
during periods of transition.
• Monitor the effectiveness of change management efforts and make
adjustments as needed.

Financial Management:
• Prepare financial reports and presentations for senior
management and the board of directors.
• Assist the Controller and Vice President of Finance and
Operations with the budgeting process including PowerPoint
presentations and reconciliation of the budget.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal
policies.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of financial
controls and procedures.

Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate financial
planning and analysis into business operations.
• Develop and lead operational and budget trainings for
staff.
• Communicate financial information and recommendations
effectively to stakeholders at all levels of the college.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous
improvement within the finance department.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or
be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform
the duties and responsibilities of the job, with or without

and abilities. The individual is expected to follow College work
rules and policies.
• Strong understanding of strategic planning principles and
change management methodologies.
• Knowledge of complex fund accounting, budgeting, and enterprise
resource planning (ERP) systems.
• Proficiency in all aspects of accounting functions (e.g.,
accounts payable, financial reporting, and budget
development).
• Skill in training, mentoring, and evaluating employees.
• Possess analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex
financial data.
• Possess effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven leadership abilities with a track record of driving
results.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, adapt to change,
and push for operational efficiencies.
• Ability to evaluate, modify and maintain internal controls,
policies and procedures to protect assets, ensure compliance with
regulation and improve college efficiency and effectiveness.
• Exercise strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
and the ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the
job.
• Knowledge of COCC’s policies and procedures to ensure proper
processing of accounting and budgeting activity in a timely
manner.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel,
Word, Access, and Outlook).
• Ability to work cooperatively with and contribute to a diverse
workplace through ideas or experience.
• Ability to demonstrate essential job functions outlined
above.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business
Administration, or related field.

Experience:
• Three (3) years of progressive experience in financial
management, business analysis, accounting, or related work
experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience:
• Experience working in a higher education setting.
• Experience working with Banner or similar ERP.
