Job Summary:

The ETL Architect is a senior-level role within the Data and Analytics Team, focused on the design and implementation of comprehensive ETL architectures and data models. This key role involves developing robust data migration, data warehousing, and dimensional modeling solutions tailored for Epic Revenue and Clinical Data Models. The ETL Architect will work closely with business stakeholders to translate complex business data requirements into actionable analytics solutions. The role requires strong expertise in ETL design, data profiling, data quality management, and master data management. Additionally, the ETL Architect will mentor other team members, establish best practices, and collaborate with the Infrastructure and DBA teams to maintain the ETL environment.

Key Responsibilities:

ETL Architecture Design: Develop end-to-end ETL architecture for data migration, data warehousing, and data mart solutions using tools like Microsoft SSIS. Ensure all ETL jobs are equipped with error handling and audit control mechanisms.

Center of Excellence: Establish and lead a Data Warehouse/ETL Center of Excellence (CoE) to document and enforce best practices, standards, and naming conventions. Mentor staff and hold periodic CoE meetings.

Reference Data Management: Implement reference data management systems using tools like Microsoft Master Data Management Services to streamline ETL processes and eliminate hardcoding.

Business Data Solutions: Partner with business stakeholders to identify and integrate data from various sources, enriching datasets to meet operational and analytics needs.

Data Governance: Contribute to the data governance program, ensuring data lineage, capturing metadata, profiling data sources, and addressing data quality issues with upstream systems.

Production Support: Provide production-level support for ETL environments, ensuring timely responses to issues and maintaining service-level agreements.

Mentorship and Collaboration: Mentor junior team members, collaborate with IT and operations leaders, and serve as a technical advisor on BI and ETL strategies.

ETL Environment Maintenance: Work with the Infrastructure and DBA teams to keep ETL environments up to date and ensure smooth operation during upgrades or enhancements.

Minimum Qualifications:

Certification: Epic Revenue or Clinical Data Model certification or Cogito Project Manager Certificate (must be obtained within 6 months of hire).

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field. In lieu of a degree, 11 years of relevant experience in the field, coupled with a demonstrated record of professional growth.

Experience: At least 7 years of experience in business intelligence, data warehousing, and ETL development. Strong preference for experience with Epic, SQL, and Crystal Reports. Prior experience in supporting and developing BI/EDW environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

Database Management: Experience with database management tasks such as creating indexes, stored procedures, and configuring permissions.

Data Warehousing: Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, data modeling techniques, and ETL strategies.

Performance Tuning: Ability to review, re-engineer, and tune SQL queries and ETL jobs for optimal performance.

Leadership: Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Dynamic Environment: Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously, including estimation, planning, and execution in a dynamic environment.

Unique Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Expertise in the full ETL lifecycle, from requirements gathering to implementation.

Advanced skills in data profiling, data quality management, and Master Data Management (MDM).

Ability to lead strategic discussions, mentor team members, and drive project execution.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach to service delivery.

Proficiency in SQL and Microsoft SSIS, with a solid understanding of relational and multidimensional modeling concepts.
