Superintendent III Clean & Safe

Salary: Up to $56,000 annually

POSITION SUMMARY: On-site staff presence and responds to after-hours operational needs, including security, staff, and customer assistance. SCHEDULE: Wednesday – Sunday, 3PM-11PM. At times hours vary based on operational needs.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Direction of ambassadors and contractors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist w/ the coordination of security contractors, SBPD staff, BBB Ambassadors, to cover special events, park & facility rentals, restrooms and parking lot closures.
• Acts as direct presence at Howard Park, Seitz Park, and other high usage facilities.
• Inspects, assists, and responds to after-hours maintenance concerns, City emergencies 311 and staff requests.
• Patrols assigned properties ensuring customers are adhering to City Ordinances and Park Policies, including but not limited to, building and restroom inspections, parking lots, and areas of proximity to the assigned location.
• Calls police, fire, and crisis management teams in emergency situations that endanger the public and property.
• Enforces and executes the City’s “Warming & Cooling Sites, Standards and Procedures” when the program is initiated due to weather conditions.
• Reports all incidents on provided COSB incident forms and electronic shift logs.
• Performs routine inspections of grounds, facilities, and monitors customer levels and usage.
• Contacts the Facilities Manager and directs called in staff to repair or address concerns reported after normal business hours.
• Coordinates with other City departments with approval from the VPA Executive Director.
• Responds to alarm calls and acts and VPA representative and keyholder that take place at their assigned locations.
• Submits Trespass Notices to the Executive Director and follows up on their distribution to applicable staff.
• Assists with the supervision of VPA (staff working overtime and off hours), including but not limited to weather response programs and/or City emergencies.
• Places signage, cones, and other means of notification and traffic control on City property.
• Monitors conditions related to weather including snow, water levels, wind, etc. and advises and updates F&G team.
• Directly interfaces with the public and provides hospitality, communication, and customer service.
• Be able to communicate with the public as needed and provide good customerservice.
• Maintains a positive attitude and consistent performance.
• Other duties as assigned.

NON-ESSENTIAL/MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as apparent or as assigned.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or equivalent education preferred
• Minimum of two years’ experience in supervisory or leadership role
• Previous work experience in workplace safety, public safety, security, and/or park operations

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
• Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time, and to perform physical labor
• Ability to speak Spanish a plus.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and public.
• Ability to work nights and weekends.
• Working knowledge of Windows operating system and MS Office 365 Suite of programs

CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATION:
• Valid Driver’s license required.
• Possess or can obtain Playground Safety Inspector Certification within one year from the date of employment.

EQUIPMENT: Pickup truck, portable and base radio, computer, photocopier, fax machine, telephone, calculator, digital camera, tablet, and various other tools and equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employees frequently is required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds, specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
