The Position

We advance science so that we all have more time with the people we love.

The Principal Scientist will be responsible for the oversight of one or more Oncology biomarker studies in the early/late development stages of the molecules during life cycle management. The incumbent will contribute to Biomarker subteams for programs in clinical development, before and after approval. As a translational medicine oncology (TMO) scientist, the incumbent will represent TMO on global development and life cycle teams and will develop and execute the personalized healthcare (PHC) strategy for the respective therapeutics. The successful candidate is expected to effectively lead cross-functional teams and to publish innovative biomarker or disease focused research in high quality scientific, technical or medical journals as well as present at external meetings. Effectively communicating to and developing collaborative relationships with key investigators and opinion leaders will be an essential part of the assignment to push translational medicine sciences forward.

The Opportunity:
• Provide exceptional scientific leadership in TMO, as well as to other functions, subteams / teams at Genentech / Roche Product Development.
• Represent the biomarker strategy and plan of an Oncology therapeutic to the late stage project teams (GDT / LCT) and oncology translational medicine review forum or decision committee.
• Lead and drive biomarker related studies and collaborations as well as data analysis and interpretation for an Oncology therapeutic project.
• Drive scientific and technical innovation collaboratively with other members of the Department.
• Participate in, or lead, disease focused translational biomarker programs, or develop a key focus on novel technologies that advance clinical biomarker assessment.
• Publish in high quality peer-reviewed scientific, technical or medical journals.
• Represent TMO externally through presentations at key National / International meetings, interactions with our key investigators.
• May manage scientists responsible for disease area biomarker strategies.

Who You Are:
• PhD, MD or PhD/MD degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g. pathology, molecular biology, cancer genetics, cancer biology, molecular oncology).
• Experience in clinical drug development and biomarkers is beneficial, including basic or advanced understanding of critical development functions, e.g. Clinical Pharmacology, Regulatory, Safety, Operations, Biostatistics, etc.
• Experience and understanding of diagnostic product development, particularly in Oncology would highly desirable.
• Experience in NSCLC disease area, KRAS-MAPK biology, ctDNA and/or computational analysis would be highly desirable.
• Consistent record of cutting edge research and / or clinically-related science as evidenced by first- or senior-authored publications in top-tier journals.
• Recognized scientific leadership as documented by references and external presentations.
• Outstanding presentation and communication skills.
• Ability to demonstrate effectiveness and growth in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $141,500 - $262,900 of hiring range. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
