Job Summary
As a Behavioral Health Technician, you will serve as an assistant to the licensed therapist during study sessions and drug dosing session for a number of research studies assessing the safety and effects of various novel therapeutics in diverse clinical and healthy populations in a clinical research setting. Duties include assisting therapy staff with documentation, data collection, and monitoring patient care and wellbeing during study visits under the direct supervision of therapy staff.
The Behavioral Health Technician will provide support to evidence-based psychotherapy under supervision of licensed therapists using the research protocol. Under the supervision of licensed therapists, the incumbent may help provide psychotherapy, using evidence-based practices that are effective for the service population. Incumbent may also provide crisis intervention and emotional support to patients with mental health disorders under direct supervision of licensed therapists.
You will be joining a dynamic, multidisciplinary research group focused on testing novel treatments for difficult to treat social deficits that cut across psychiatric disorders.

Department Description
The primary function of this position is to provide support to the psychotherapy services for the Translational Psychedelic Research Program at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), Department of Psychiatry at the Nancy Friend Pritzker Building, Mission Bay, San Francisco, CA. We believe that strong relationships are central to good mental health and well-being. Our mission is to develop novel pharmacological and psychological interventions for mental illness that enable patients to strengthen their connections to other people and the world. We are developing several studies combining novel pharmacological interventions with psychotherapy to target difficult to treat psychiatric conditions including depression in bipolar affective disorder, existential distress in neurodegenerative disorders, chronic pain disorders, social deficits, and posttraumatic
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent experience
• Acquiring skills in providing behavioral / educational interventions with the intention of obtaining licensure in the future
• Knowledge of applicable laws and ethical standards associated with profession.
• Acquiring knowledge of diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a collaborative manner with diverse client group.
• Knowledge of business software and electronic / medical records systems.
Preferred Qualifications
• Completed or currently enrolled in a graduate program (Masters or higher)
• Previous experience working in a research setting or a counseling center
