Position Overview:
Our school is seeking an innovative DHH Math Specialist to join our remote teaching team. In this role, you will develop and deliver engaging, visually-oriented mathematics instruction for deaf and hard of hearing students across all grade levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and teach online math courses tailored to DHH students' learning needs
- Develop visual and interactive math content for virtual classroom use
- Utilize ASL to explain complex mathematical concepts clearly and effectively
- Incorporate real-world applications and problem-solving skills into lessons
- Collaborate with other STEM teachers to create cross-curricular projects
- Provide individualized support to students struggling with math concepts
- Stay current with best practices in mathematics education for DHH students
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics Education or related field (Master's preferred)
- Valid teaching license with endorsements in Mathematics and Deaf Education
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Minimum of 3 years experience teaching mathematics to DHH students
- Strong background in visual learning strategies and manipulatives
- Proficiency in using online graphing tools, math software, and virtual manipulatives
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to explain concepts in multiple ways
