As a Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Infrastructure Platforms & Production Services-Risk team, you lead a team and manage day-to-day implementation activities of an internally facing application by identifying and escalating issues and ensuring your team’s work adheres to compliance standards, business requirements, and tactical best practices.
Job responsibilities
• Lead a software engineering feature team to build and scale a brand new application for use by internal customers.
• Collaborate with Tech Lead, Lead Developer, and Manager of other feature team to drive design and implementation planning.
• Lead team to prototype solutions, interacting directly with customers to gain feedback, iterating on and improving design.
• Provides guidance and coaching to immediate team of software engineers on daily tasks and activities.
• Sets the overall guidance and expectations for team output, practices, and collaboration.
• Anticipates dependencies with other teams to deliver products and applications in line with business requirements.
• Manages stakeholder relationships and the team’s work in accordance with compliance standards, service level agreements, and business requirements.
• Creates a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for the team members and prioritizes diverse representation.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
• 2+ years' experience with managing a team of technologists.
• Experience leading technology projects.
• Experience with running standups, sprint planning cadences, career development, troubleshooting blockers and code functions.
• Proficient in automation and continuous delivery methods.
• Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
• Practical cloud native experience.
• Experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and expertise in technology disciplines.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
• Experience working at code level with Python, Django, React, Typescript and/or Javascript.
• Familiarity with Python libraries.
• Understanding of databases and database queries.
• In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems.
• Experience of internal audit or technology risk management practices.
