Tenure Track Faculty in Biology and Biomedical Engineering, 2025-2026

The Department of Biology and Biomedical Engineering (BBE) at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology seeks candidates for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in Biology to begin August 2025. Candidates with advanced experience may be considered for appointment at a higher academic rank.

By the time of appointment, candidates must hold a Ph.D. in a Life-Sciences related field and show evidence of or demonstrated potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching. The ideal candidate will use evidence-based approaches to teach a range of required biology classes and upper-year electives in their specialty. While we encourage candidates in all Life-Sciences fields to apply, experience in teaching and research in ecology, evolutionary biology, or organismal biology is preferred.

The capstone experience of the program is an intensive thesis experience spanning a 5-term sequence; all biology faculty serve as mentors in the capstone thesis. RHIT focuses on hands on experiences for all students. Therefore, every named required course in our curriculum includes a lab experience. The scholar who joins our department will be joining a group of 4 biology professors, 8 biomedical engineering professors, one laboratory manager, one biomedical engineering support technician, and one administrative assistant.

Essential job responsibilities include teaching and advising students, continued professional development, and service to the department, Institute, and professional community. Members of the department are expected to demonstrate sustained intellectual development. Professors of biology should exhibit an ability to advance the department's commitment to diversity and inclusion through research, teaching and outreach with relevant programs, goals, and activities. Faculty and staff within the biology program are highly collaborative and committed to the Institute’s mission to provide students with the world’s best undergraduate science, engineering, and mathematics education in an environment of individual attention and support.
