Position Summary
Claims Adjusters at Harbor Insurance Company are responsible for effectively managing investigations, evaluation, and negotiations of claims in the most thorough and professional manner to ensure appropriate resolution and timely conclusion of all assigned files. To be successful in this role, adjusters must be proactive and comprehensive in their approach, solutions and results-oriented, as well as exhibit the highest levels of customer service and professionalism in all interactions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Investigate, evaluate, and negotiate insurance claims to reach fair and equitable settlement for involved parties.
· Interpret policy contracts and assess coverage application to each loss.
· Manage customer communication with the highest level of respect and professionalism, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and understanding throughout the process with the intent of maintaining positive customer relationships and brand reputation.
· Conduct comprehensive investigations, appropriately engaging all relevant stakeholders including police officers, attorneys, and other professionals to acquire all necessary information.
· Ensure timely response and resolution of internal and external customer inquiries.
· Evaluate claims and manage negotiations and settlements expediently and effectively in alignment with regulatory and company standards and policies.
· Document claim information and activities to ensure accurate and comprehensive files for each claim.
· Plan and manage all claim activities and communications to mitigate excess cost, identify appropriate subrogation, and resolve claims in the most efficient manner.
· Communicate, report, and escalate issues to Claims Manager as necessary to advise on complex issues.
· Maintain a deep understanding of industry trends, state law and regulations, and company policies and standards.
· Assess and recommend areas for improvement and actively engage in process improvement projects or activities as assigned.
· Engage beyond completion of tasks to deeply understand and consider circumstances of each claim and policyholder to ensure appropriate resolution as well as opportunities for process improvement.
· Back-up and support other team members as needed to ensure high-functioning department and consistent success in achieving goals and outcomes.
· Other duties as may be assigned by Claims Manager.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field preferred.
• Oklahoma Adjuster License required or ability to acquire within 60 days of employment.
• Previous experience as claims adjuster or similar role strongly preferred.
• Bilingual, Spanish speaking is a plus, not required.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and industry standard web applications.

• Create and maintain depth of knowledge regarding insurance products, policies, and services, as well as high degree of technical competency.
