Come join OnSpot Data's Development Team! We're a leading advertising data provider, working with a massive amount of location data to better our customers' insights, ad targeting, and measurement. We are looking for an engineer with functional programming experience to help build out new functionality. Our engineering team is US based and all work from home.
Our codebase is primarily Scala, with use of Akka and the Play Framework. Ideally looking for someone who can write clean functional code using Akka libraries on a production codebase. , following an Agile methodology for development with communication primarily being done via Slack.
• Work closely with product owners, engineers, and QA to deliver stable, and simple-to-use distributed data stores, streaming services, and software solutions
• Work on a production product which processes > 1 million jobs daily for a wide-spread customer base
• Develop and maintain back-end streaming services, pipelines, and ETL jobs
• Work with large sets of data, build systems to facilitate flow, manage existing data stores, and consume data from various sources
• Maintain a positive day-to-day attitude as well as inspire other engineers/developers to improve their productivity and code quality
• Self-starter / able to work independently
• B.S. Computer Science, related degree, or equivalent experience
• Experience coding in Scala/Akka or similar functional languages
• Familiarity with the JVM
• Experience with modern Software Development Lifecycles (Git/Git-Flow conventions, Agile methodology, Release cycles, etc.)
• Familiarity with AWS (SQS, API Gateway, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, CloudWatch, etc.)
• Previous start-up / small team experience
• Code profiling experience
• Familiarity with full-stack development methodologies, design patterns, and processes

• Base salary $75,000 - $150,000
