Research Data Analyst & Security Engineer

The Huynh Lab in the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health develops AI and data science approaches to advance environmental justice and health equity. The Research Data Analyst & Security Engineer will conduct data science research and software engineering support at the intersection of environmental justice and health equity.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop software engineering infrastructure for active research projects, particularly cybersecurity. Specifically, update OAuth authentication endpoints based on existing software needs, and implement SQL changes to optimize platform functionality.
• Develop data collection and analysis methodology, including defining in detail data requirements, data sources, and proper data collection procedures, e.g., computer programs, appropriate data fields, and databases.
• Perform data analysis and interpretation, and utilize knowledge of statistics and quantitative analysis.
• Present research data.
• May contribute to writing sections of manuscripts/publications.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline.
• Three years of related experience.
• Additional education (Master's level) may substitute for required experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications
• 4+ years of C# work experience.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and common cyberattacks (DDoS, Cross-Site Scripting).
• An understanding of TLS/ SSL certificates and certificate management protocols.
• Knowledge of Python and database scripting.

Starting Salary Range: $48,000.00 - $84,100.00 Annually ($61,500.00 Targeted; Commensurate with experience)
