The Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education at The University of Alabama is seeking a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor of elementary education (grades PreK-6) with expertise in mathematics education. The University of Alabama is a Research I institution with considerable emphasis on recruiting productive scholars and effective instructors.
Responsibilities:
• develop an active and productive research/publication record related to mathematics education
• teach undergraduate and graduate courses focused on grades PK-6 mathematics education
• collaborate in pursuing external funding in mathematics education
• advise and mentor graduate students
• professional service to the department, university, and professional organizations
Starting Date: August 16, 2025
Minimum Qualifications
• earned doctorate in Elementary Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or relevant field with a mathematics education focus
• demonstrated professional experiences with elementary students of at least 2 years
• ability to pursue a research agenda with the potential for external funding in mathematics education
• ability to teach university courses focused on grades PK-6 mathematics education
• ability to collaborate in elementary schools through partnership activities
• demonstrated expertise in research-based ambitious and equitable mathematics instruction
Preferred Qualifications
• experience teaching university mathematics education courses • experience working with a range of diverse student populations • experience working in collaborative settings • demonstrated research through publications and presentations
