Petland Independence is a small business in Independence, MO. We are professional, fast-paced, social and our goal is to make a difference in Lee’s Summit & Independence Mo. For over 10 years, we have been the retail pet industry leader in the area of animal care with ongoing staff training programs, in-store animal husbandry systems and community service programs. What do we do?
A major focus of our Pet Counselors is to educate people about pets. This information assists customers in making informed choices that improves the quality of the their lives and the lives of their pets. We provide all necessary training, but previous experience/knowledge is a bonus.
My Pet Counselors are responsible for:
• Customer/animal relationship building. It is our main focus to find the best fit for both our animals and our customers.
• Occasional basic retail duties (cashiering, stocking, cleaning, shipments, etc.)
Qualifications:
• Passion for animals (This is a MUST. You will be interacting with both our animals and customers throughout the day. We need individuals who are dedicated and able to transfer their excitement to the customers.)
• Self motivated We need individuals who know what has to be done, and takes the initiative to get it done.
• Comfortable conversing with customers (Our customer service holds no bounds. Our Pet Counselors are required to speak with every customer that comes through our doors. We have both life long animal owners and people who are new to being pet parents. Being able to relate to our customers and connect with them is key.)
• Positive and outgoing (A smile is contagious. This is a very fun working environment, and want people to enjoy coming to work. An individual who is able to look at the glass half full, at all times.)
• Ability to work both as a team and on your own (Our staff has a wide variety of tasks. Anything from cashier to cleaning to customer service to feeding. Team work is crucial to keep the floor running successfully.)
• Ability to flex between our two locations (Petland Lee’s Summit & Petland Independence)
Qualified individuals can work 18/40 hours a week, with a flexible schedule. This is a retail environment, so weekends are required.
Previous retail experience is preferred, but not required. All the necessary training will be provided.
