Role Overview:
We are seeking a strategic and dynamic Product Manager who will lead the development process of data products and the creation of product roadmaps. This individual will work across functions, including data science and technology, to deliver outstanding data and intelligence products.
Key Responsibilities:
• Product Strategy and Roadmap: Develop and execute product strategies that align with Farm Journal’s vision and business objectives. Lead the creation of roadmaps for data products based on market needs, customer feedback, and competitive landscape.
• Market Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify customer needs, market trends, and competitive dynamics. Translate insights into clear product requirements and innovative solutions.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with data science, technology, design, marketing, and sales teams to ensure seamless product development and go-to-market execution. Facilitate communication and alignment across all stakeholders.
• Product Development: Manage the end-to-end product development process for both data and intelligence products. Oversee the design, development, and testing phases, ensuring timely and high-quality product delivery.
• Customer Engagement: Engage with customers and stakeholders to gather feedback, understand pain points, and validate product concepts. Build strong relationships with key customers to drive adoption and satisfaction.
• Performance Monitoring: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and inform future product iterations. Continuously improve product offerings based on data-driven insights.
• Data Product Performance: Work with the data science team to lead the standardization, automation, and quality assurance of data deliverables to key clients. Maintain a focus on improving client satisfaction through client-facing discussions on data ingestion, usage, and future needs.
• Product Requirements: Build product requirements for use by tech and data engineering teams. Create wireframe mockups for UI-related products and features.
• Client Feedback Integration: Take findings from client conversations to reimagine overall data product deliverables.
• Third-Party Data Providers: Work with third-party data providers to consume new datasets, leading to new or enhanced data products.
• Data Visualizations and Dashboards: Build out requirements for data visualizations and dashboards that meet larger market needs.
• API Ecosystem Development: Lead the productization and development requirements for an API ecosystem to enable clients to self-serve ingestion of our data.
• Liaison Role: Partner with technology teams to ensure timely delivery and act as a liaison between tech, product, and executive leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in Agriculture or Related Fields: Familiarity with agriculture, food, or related industries is a plus.
• Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex data sets and synthesize insights to support product decisions. Proficiency in data visualization tools like Tableau is a plus.
• Product Management Experience: 3-5 years of experience in product management or an adjacent product role, with a focus on data-driven products. Demonstrated success in launching and scaling products.
• Leadership Experience: Proven ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams. Experience managing and mentoring junior product managers.
• Excellent Communication and Storytelling: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present complex information in a clear and compelling manner to various audiences.
• Technical Proficiency: Experience with product management tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or similar. Knowledge of agile development methodologies.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required; a master’s degree is a plus.
