The Position: We are looking for a candidate who will serve as a Data Fusion Engineer- Journeyman to support PMA-265, the Weapon System Acquisition Program and the F-18 team.
The Location: Patuxent River, MD

The Description:
The ideal candidate will have experience in data fusion, systems integration, and software development, with an emphasis on military aviation platforms. Applied mathematicians with software development experience are encouraged to apply, as this role involves leveraging data fusion techniques to enhance situational awareness and decision-making for the F-18 aircraft. The candidate will work closely with software engineers, systems engineers, and program managers to support mission-critical operations.
• Lead the evaluation, development, and integration of data fusion algorithms and techniques for F-18 aircraft systems.
• Analyze and interpret data from multiple sensors to improve situational awareness and decision support systems.
• Collaborate with PMA-265, contractors, and internal teams to ensure successful system integration and performance.
• Develop software solutions that enable real-time data processing and fusion across multiple systems.
• Troubleshoot and optimize data fusion models to ensure robust and accurate performance.
• Provide technical expertise in signal processing, statistical methods, and machine learning as it applies to data fusion.
• Document system requirements, design specifications, and testing results.
• Participate in system testing, including lab-based and flight test environments.
• Ensure compliance with DoD and Navy standards for data security and system integration.
Education & Experience:
• Active DoD Top-Secret Clearance, required.
• Bachelor's degree in applied mathematics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• Master's Degree preferred.
• Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant work experience in data fusion, signal processing, or sensor integration (military aviation experience preferred).
• Proficiency in software development (e.g., C++, Python, MATLAB) and algorithm development for data fusion applications.
• Strong understanding of statistical techniques, machine learning, and sensor data processing.
• Experience with systems engineering processes, including requirements gathering, design, testing, and validation.
• Ability to troubleshoot and optimize algorithms for real-time processing in operational environments.
Desired Skillset:
• Familiarity with F-18 aircraft systems or other military aviation platforms.
• Experience working with PMA-265 or similar Navy program offices.
• Knowledge of multi-sensor data fusion frameworks and architectures.
• Familiarity with Navy and DoD standards for avionics and software integration.
• Understanding of radar, EO/IR, and other sensor modalities used in military aviation.
Travel:
• On some occasions, the employee may be required to drive to offices or buildings near the work site. In rare occasions, travel may be required.
